You can change the way numbers and dates are displayed on an axis with these options.
- Double-click your graph then click the relevant Axis tab (Y Axis, X axis or Z axis).
- Click the Format labels button.
Default
This lets Genstat decide the number of decimal places used to display axis labels.
Number of decimal places
Specifies the number of decimal places to use for axis labels. You can enter a single number or a list which will be cycled if necessary.
Scientific notation
Select this to use scientific notation (M × 10n) for axis labels. You can specify the number of significant figures to be used. The number of significant figures must be greater than zero.
Engineering notation
Select this to use engineering notation (M × 10n, where n is a multiple of 3) for axis labels. You can specify the number of significant figures to be used. The number of significant figures must be greater than zero.
Date representation
Specifies the date format to use for axis labels. You can choose from a list of predefined formats. The number before each item in the list is the numerical code which represents that date format. Date preview shows today’s date in the format chosen as an example. If you want to specify a list of formats then select the List option and enter the numerical codes which represent the date formats you want.
